About First Step Remedial
One to one sessions are offered virtually for children between the ages of 5 and 9 years old, as We believe in early inperson or virtually. We work with older children on a case-by-case basis.
We offer parent consultation, coaching, and training support for parents who need expert advice and guidance on how to navigate their Dyslexia journey.
About First Step Remedial
First Step is the only registered ® provider with IDA as Dyslexia therapy centre in Kolkata. Ms Subhasree Mukherjee is the founder of First Step Remedial and has been active in the field of education for over 17 years as a tutor, teacher, intervention specialist, and administrator. She has provided instruction to students demonstrating learning challenges associated with Dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ADSD), and Developmental/Cognitive Disabilities.
Ms Mukherjee is a credentialed educator in the areas of early childhood education and, special education. She holds Master’s degrees in Special Education (LD) and Psychology. She is a Certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist through the Center for Effective Reading Instruction (CERI) and a Certified Level Orton-Gillingham Tutor through the Orton-Gillingham Academy (OGA). She also trains teachers and holds workshop on Orton Gillingham approach to empower tutors with remedial strategies. Ms Mukherjee strives to empower students with their own ‘tool kit’ of strategies to approach daily challenges and become confident, lifelong learners.
Here at First Step, we offer individualized and personalized Structured Literacy
intervention in reading, spelling and writing, for Dyslexic children, using the Orton Gillingham approach.
After school remedial classes, 1:1 special education classes and group classes’ options are there. Team First step is dedicated towards the holistic development of each and every child.

We use the Orton-Gillingham Approach that is evidence-based, diagnostic, prescriptive, explicit, multisensory, systematic, structured, sequential, repetitive, and cumulative to teach literacy skills.
We believe every child with Dyslexia deserves to and can learn how to read, spell and write. We believe in early intervention, therefore providing support at the earliest, effectively, and with results is paramount!
Our mission is to empower children to understand their challenges and strengths, believe in themselves, succeed, and thrive!
Along with children with Dyslexia, we cater to children with Autism and ADHD. Individualized program is developed for each child and implemented according to the short term goals set up for them. The children receive personal attention to build their academic skills, daily living activities, help in managing their behavioural issues and develop their communication skills.
